Description: Our overriding mission is to reach and help hurting people, to connect them with them and teach them the Truth. In order to fulfill that mission, we have a variety of ministries and programs designed to reach and minister to a variety of needs - from our Sunday Worship Services to our Mid-Week Outreach Service to our various targeted ministries - we are committed to helping everyone we minister to develop a deepening relationship with Jesus Christ. Pleasant Valley was founded as a Southern Baptist church in 1961 by Pastor James E. Schneider, Sr., his wife Louise, and 46 other charter members. The church began as a mission work initiated that met in the YMCA in New London, later moving to Pleasant Valley Elementary School as the congregation grew, before breaking ground on its current location on Grove Avenue in Groton. As the Holy Spirit became increasingly involved in our church, we entered into a new freedom that lead us to become a non-denominational church in 1996.\n\nWORSHIP SERVICE SUNDAY'S 10:30 AM * Mid-Week ServiceOur Mid-Week Service (Thursdays @ 7:00pm) is an outreach-oriented service geared to specifically to bring a salvation message to those attending. Once a month this service is led by our youth ministry Children's MinistryWe provide care for all children - infant through 5th grade - during Sunday School and our 11:00AM Worship Service on Sunday. Additional limited care is provided at other activities and events. Youth MinistryOur youth ministry - IGNITE - is a generational ministry open to young people from 6th grade through College (approx 12-24 years old). At IGNITE, we strive to shatter the stereotype that church "has" to be boring! Our weekly service is planned in such a way that it engages young people through fun and laughter, live worship, and a message that is both powerful and relevant to their lives. Sunday SchoolWe want everyone - young and old - to know God. One way to do that is to discover His character through wh at He's done in the past; so each Sunday morning we offer age-appropriate Bible studies. While some classes are perpetual, others change topic and focus from time to time.
